Historic renovation with a family of 4 in mind.

This summary describes the renovation of a historic Shingle style home from around 1900, which was featured in Home and Garden Magazine in the 1970s. The house originally had unique features like a built-in countertop blender, an indoor grill, and an early trash compactor, but needed updating for a family of four on a budget. The renovation preserved some distinctive 1970s elements, like black-painted ceiling beams and lap & gap paneling in the dining room. However, outdated kitchen appliances were removed to create more functional counter space. A wall was pushed back to accommodate a double Bosch oven and larger refrigerator, while a new prep island with a spacious 42" stainless steel sink was added. The owners chose a blue and white color scheme for the cabinets that echoed the 1970s style. Additionally, two bathrooms were remodeled, wallpaper and new light fixtures were added, and a wine bar replaced an old closet, transforming the home into a livable and enjoyable space close to downtown attractions.

The Before

Before Photos

How the space looked before we started.

Despite the challenges we faced during our renovation, including difficulties with the contractor and numerous unforeseen delays due to Covid, Hope was there every step of the way, guiding us through the process. While it was a tough journey and took longer than expected, we're thrilled to say that we've finally completed the renovation and are back in our home. Everything is looking beautiful!
