Designing in Fredericksburg

Designing for Fredericksburg homes and guest properties

Fredericksburg is a town of second homes, Sunday Houses, guest cottages and short-term rentals, and each of those asks a different question. A weekend home needs to feel restful the moment you walk in after a two-hour drive. A rental needs to photograph beautifully, survive real guests, and still feel personal enough to earn five-star reviews.

We design for both. That means durable, beautiful materials rather than fragile showpieces, layouts that work for guests who've never been in the house before, and the German-Texan material language — limestone, painted wood, simple iron, honest linen — that makes a Fredericksburg property feel like it belongs where it stands.

Sunday Houses, short-term rentals and Fredericksburg interiors

Fredericksburg has a building type most of Texas does not - the Sunday House, a small weekend dwelling built by farming families who came into town for church and market. Many survive, often tiny, often with a sleeping loft, and many have been converted into guest accommodation.

A large share of Fredericksburg interior work is therefore short-term rental work, which follows different rules than a family home. Every surface has to survive strangers. Storage has to be obvious without explanation. And the design has to photograph well in a listing thumbnail, because that image is what converts a booking.

Our work may be upscale, but our process is pleasantly down-to-earth.

Enjoy high-end design with a personal feel and simple elegance.

Our Process

Five refined steps

  1. 01

    Step 1 — Discovery

We can chat on the phone for free about your design project. We'll talk about what you want to achieve and see if we're a good match! If you like, you can choose to meet us in person for the design session. We'll talk about money, design stuff, what you like, and what you need, so we can make a unique plan just for you.

  2. 02

    Step 2 — Concept

After approving our design plan, we'll set up a time to measure and take pictures of your space(s) to start planning your project.

  3. 03

    Step 3 — Present

Now, let's make the real magic happen! We'll craft special Design Ideas, Floor Sketches, Detailed Lists of Products, and 3D Pictures so you can see and understand our ideas completely. We'll show you our designs, along with samples of materials, so you can touch and see the finishes in person. Then, all you have to do is say "yes" or "no" to the products we've chosen!

  4. 04

    Step 4 — Produce

Once we finish the design and you say yes to everything, we handle ordering and making sure everything gets where it needs to go. You don't have to stress about all the tricky details - we've got it covered. It's as easy as that!

  5. 05

    Step 5 — Enjoy

After all your things are sent and reach our warehouse or we can deliver directly to your home, we'll set up a day to install everything in your home. We'll arrange the furniture, put up artwork, add accessories, and take photos of the finished rooms. Your fully designed home is good to go! Now you can kick back, relax, and enjoy it. Cheers!

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

A decorator focuses on the surface layer — furniture, color, textiles and styling. A designer works on that plus the structure and function of the space: layouts, millwork, cabinetry, lighting plans and coordination with builders and contractors. In practice most projects need both skill sets, and we do both — including custom furniture and hand-applied finishes that most firms outsource.

It depends on scope, and the honest answer is that furniture lead times drive the calendar more than design does. A single room refresh can move in a matter of weeks. A full remodel with custom pieces typically runs several months, largely because custom furniture, cabinetry and specialty finishes take time to build properly. We'll map out a realistic schedule after the concept stage rather than promising a date we can't hold.

No. We know you're busy. Meetings can happen online, and we handle ordering, deliveries, logistics and installation on your behalf. You approve the design and the product selections — after that you can be as involved or as hands-off as you like.
