Designing the Inside of Your Home to Tell Your Story

Interior design for Boerne homes — Hill Country limestone, ranch properties, and historic Main Street character.

Designing in Boerne

Designing for Boerne's Hill Country character

Boerne homes tend to carry real Texas Hill Country bones — limestone exteriors, deep porches, heavy beams, and big windows aimed at the view. The mistake we see most often is decorating against that architecture instead of with it, filling a limestone-and-timber house with furnishings that would suit a suburban interior anywhere in the country.

Our work leans into what the house already is. Natural materials, honest textures, antiques and hand-finished pieces that feel like they were gathered over time rather than ordered in one afternoon. The German heritage in Boerne's older buildings is a genuine design cue — simple, well-built, unfussy — and it translates beautifully into interiors that feel calm instead of decorated.

Designing around Hill Country light and stone

Boerne homes sit on limestone, and that shows up everywhere - exterior cladding, fireplace surrounds, interior accent walls. The older properties around the Hill Country Mile carry German settlement influence with thick walls and modest window openings, while newer builds out toward Cordillera Ranch go the other way entirely, with glass walls facing the hills.

Those two conditions call for opposite approaches to light. Thick-walled older homes need layered artificial lighting and lighter finishes to avoid feeling cave-like. View-driven new builds need the opposite - control of glare and heat gain from western exposure, which means window treatments chosen for function first and appearance second.

Our work may be upscale, but our process is pleasantly down-to-earth.

Our Process

Five refined steps

  1. 01

    Step 1 — Discovery

We can chat on the phone for free about your design project. We'll talk about what you want to achieve and see if we're a good match! If you like, you can choose to meet us in person for the design session. We'll talk about money, design stuff, what you like, and what you need, so we can make a unique plan just for you.

  2. 02

    Step 2 — Concept

After approving our design plan, we'll set up a time to measure and take pictures of your space(s) to start planning your project.

  3. 03

    Step 3 — Present

Now, let's make the real magic happen! We'll craft special Design Ideas, Floor Sketches, Detailed Lists of Products, and 3D Pictures so you can see and understand our ideas completely. We'll show you our designs, along with samples of materials, so you can touch and see the finishes in person. Then, all you have to do is say "yes" or "no" to the products we've chosen!

  4. 04

    Step 4 — Produce

Once we finish the design and you say yes to everything, we handle ordering and making sure everything gets where it needs to go. You don't have to stress about all the tricky details - we've got it covered. It's as easy as that!

  5. 05

    Step 5 — Enjoy

After all your things are sent and reach our warehouse or we can deliver directly to your home, we'll set up a day to install everything in your home. We'll arrange the furniture, put up artwork, add accessories, and take photos of the finished rooms. Your fully designed home is good to go! Now you can kick back, relax, and enjoy it. Cheers!

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

An interior designer plans how a space looks, functions and feels — then manages the work to make it happen. That includes space planning and layouts, selecting finishes, furniture and fabrics, 3D renderings so you can see the result before committing, ordering and logistics, and final installation and styling. A good designer also protects you from expensive mistakes: the sofa that won't fit, the tile that won't wear well, the lighting plan that leaves a room flat.

A decorator focuses on the surface layer — furniture, color, textiles and styling. A designer works on that plus the structure and function of the space: layouts, millwork, cabinetry, lighting plans and coordination with builders and contractors. In practice most projects need both skill sets, and we do both — including custom furniture and hand-applied finishes that most firms outsource.

It depends on scope, and the honest answer is that furniture lead times drive the calendar more than design does. A single room refresh can move in a matter of weeks. A full remodel with custom pieces typically runs several months, largely because custom furniture, cabinetry and specialty finishes take time to build properly. We'll map out a realistic schedule after the concept stage rather than promising a date we can't hold.

Despite the challenges we faced during our renovation, including difficulties with the contractor and numerous unforeseen delays due to Covid, Hope was there every step of the way, guiding us through the process. While it was a tough journey and took longer than expected, we're thrilled to say that we've finally completed the renovation and are back in our home. Everything is looking beautiful!
