New Builds and Flexibility

Designing in Schertz

Schertz sits northeast of San Antonio in Guadalupe County and has grown quickly. Most of its housing is recent - newer subdivisions, builder plans repeated across streets, and homes that are sound but largely undifferentiated inside.

Proximity to Randolph Air Force Base also shapes the work. A meaningful share of households here move on a posting cycle, which changes the brief. Design has to look considered and personal without relying on permanent architectural change, and furniture needs to work in more than one floor plan.

Personalising a builder-grade home

When the layout is fixed and the finishes came from a short menu, the differentiators are colour, lighting, textiles, art and the quality of a few focal pieces. Changing light fixtures and hardware throughout a builder home is one of the highest-impact, lowest-disruption things you can do.

For households expecting to move, we favour investments that travel - good furniture, rugs and art - over built-ins and bespoke millwork, and we document layouts so pieces can be re-planned into a future home rather than replaced.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Both. One room — a primary bedroom, a dining room, a home office — is a perfectly good project, and often the easiest way to see how we work before going further. We scope by room and by deliverable, so you can start small and expand later if you decide to.

Always. Nothing is purchased until you have seen and approved it. You review the layout, the product selections and the 3D renderings first, alongside material samples you can handle, and you can approve, change or reject anything before it moves forward.

Yes. Lighting is part of almost every project — fixture selection, placement and layering, plus a switching plan so a room can be bright, dim or somewhere in between. Window treatments are designed alongside the rest of the room rather than added at the end, because they shape how a space feels as much as the furniture does.
